Sarasota Christian School is committed to providing an excellent academic Christ-centered environment to help students discover their full potential and ignite a lifelong passion for learning and service. The school offers Pre-K through 12th grade education on a 25-acre campus. Sarasota Christian School students enjoy small class sizes and individualized attention from accomplished Christian faculty. While teachers are preparing students for college and careers, they are also teaching faith-based values and principles. All students participate in regular classroom devotions, small group meetings, and/or daily chapels. SCS provides a nurturing environment where students receive outstanding, well-rounded academic instruction in a Christian environment and are encouraged to deepen their faith through broad educational experiences.
The school is fully-accredited to ensure that academic standards and curriculum are among the best. Classroom concepts are connected from Pre-K through 12th grade through curriculum mapping, which exceeds Florida state standards. SCS believes twenty-first century education must be innovative, rigorous but flexible, and incorporate worldwide collaboration to empower and motivate students to make an impact at local, national, and global levels. Students experience and engage the world in ways that prepare them to lead, serve and transform their professions, churches, and communities. SCS students learn about other cultures through exchanges with schools in their international school partnership program. SCS is the first and only school in Sarasota County to receive the One World Award by the Sarasota Sister Cities Association for recognition in promoting international knowledge and relationships. SCS also develops critical thinking and creative problem- solving skills, and offers advanced academics at all grade levels. To help prepare students to be pioneers in a rapidly changing world, SCS offers an Accelerated College Education (ACE) program, college dual enrollment and advanced placement courses, and continues to focus on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) learning opportunities.
Outside the classroom, students participate in a world- ranked Odyssey of the Mind program, athletics, music, drama and fine arts programs. “Scripture calls us to love God with our heart, soul, mind and strength; we are committed to preparing our students accordingly through Biblical study, academic excellence, and service to others,” says Jeffrey A. Shank, the school’s superintendent.
