Hermitage Artist Retreat on July 17!

Florida’s Top Arts Teachers Present Hands-On Showcase at the Hermitage Artist Retreat on July 17!

Join us at the Hermitage Artist Retreat on Saturday, July 17 starting at 11:00 a.m. for an interactive program by the top arts teachers in Florida. This event is outdoors on the Great Lawn at the Hermitage on Manasota Key Road in Englewood.

This family-friendly event is open to all ages. Kids and adults alike can participate in a hands-on concert and writing and visual art activities.

The teaching artists are the winners of the 2021 State Teacher Artist Residency program (Hermitage STARs), presented by the Hermitage Artist Retreat in partnership with the Florida Alliance for Arts Education.

• Eric Troop, a music instructor at the Bellalago Academy in Kissimmee, is composing original music during his stay at the Hermitage. He will perform and then introduce the audience to percussion instruments and invite them to sing and play along to the beat of their own drum.

• Megan Boehm, a painting instructor from Kissimmee Middle School, centers her artwork around history, reenactment, and time travel. During this event, she will present her work and lead guests in taking a time-traveling selfie.

• Kimberley Mullins, a creative writing instructor at Gainesville High School, will read from her latest works-in-progress and invite others to participate in writing activities.

• Laura Wiswell, a painting instructor at Port Salerno Elementary in Stuart, will lead the group in creating a temporary environmental installation for the Hermitage.
