Brain Boosting Smoothie

SPONSORED BY: Brain Wave Center of Sarasota

The Brain Wave Center is more than brain mapping and neurofeedback. We also work with clients on the everyday things we do in life that contribute to our health, including nutrition.

This smoothie is a perfect start to the morning or an energizing after-school-snack. Below is a great smoothie recipe researched by our Registered Dietitian that is easy to make and tastes great as well!

Rich in antioxidants, the blueberries, cocoa, and turmeric support memory, focus, and attention. The avocado supplies healthy fats and promotes blood flow to the brain for faster processing.

Brain Boosting Smoothie

  • 1-1.5 cup almond milk or 2% organic milk

  • ¾ cup frozen blueberries

  • ½ medium banana

  • 1/2 avocado

  • 2 tsp unsweetened cocoa powder (optional)

  • 1 tsp turmeric

  • Handful ice

Directions: Add all ingredients to a blender and blend until well combined and no ice chunks remain. If you like a thicker smoothie, only use 1 cup of milk. If it’s too thick, add another ½ cup.

Tip: Keep the pit in the remaining half of the avocado and wrap it in plastic wrap. This helps prevent some oxidation, or browning.
